Silvertone and Harmony Archtops.
These twin axes of awesome have been sent in by Jeremiahhatfieldmusic who says the “One on the left is my 40s-50s Silvertone. I’m not sure of the year as I can’t find it online yet, so help would be awesome. The second is my 1956 (I think) Hollywood Harmony. I found both at two different pawn shops for $80 and $200 respectively. The sound for both are pretty amazing! I have since used both on several recordings and it gives that great old school sound!”
Silvertone 1446.
Now here’s the very definition of Guitar Porn sent in by Unknown-brother of the band ‘Dad Brother’;
“Here’s my vintage Silvertone 1446 “Chris Isaak” model. These were made by Harmony and sold from 1962-1967 under the Silvertone brand name as a Bigsby-equipped alternative to the Espanada model. The pickups are mini-humbuckers made by Gibson (one of the only Harmony/Silvertone guitars to feature Gibson pickups). It sounds gorgeous and plays beautifully. I went to the store with cash to buy a Gretsch and walked out with this. It is 100% original and plays like a dream with tons of mojo. I even left the hula-girl sticker on the headstock that the previous owner placed there! In this picture, it leans against a Twin Reverb reissue. A match made in heaven.
The Silvertone has become my one and only gigging guitar with my band Dad Brother. Come to a show in NJ/NY and see it in action!”
You can find out when and where at their Facebook page and listen to this sweet sounding chunk of wood at their Reverbnation page.
1950’s Silvertone/Kay 1425 Archtop.
Made by Kay for Sears under the name Silvertone. Not to be confused with the Silvertone guitars made for Sears by Danelectro. Or the Silvertone guitars made for Sears by Hagstrom. Or the ones made by National. Or…

A feast of fifties loveliness for you all this time round, with a Danelectro 6-string bass being propped up by a wonderfully distressed Silvertone Amp.

Bit of a Retro-Fest going on here, this gorgeous mid-60’s Italian is more than ably backed by the Lectrolab R600 and Magnatone 431 Amps in the background. Not only that, there’s a Danelectro Silvertone 1457 hovering around for good measure as well.
Reblogged from pradabidet:
What’s in the basement? I’ll tell you…
From left to right:
‘69 or ‘70 Teisco tulip style “Del Ray”, 2 pick ups
Old Holiday Acoustic, don’t know much about it other than it looks like it belonged to a hobo and they played the shit out of it. Holiday could be made by Kay or Harmony and I don’t know which it is. It’s pretty old. I’d say 50’s??? If anybody knows what this is, please let me know. I’d appreciate it. I’ll try to look up the serial numbers again.
‘69? Silvertone (By Teisco) “Moserite Style” 3 pick up BEAST! This one screams!
VOX AD30VT amplifier (I put the covering on it, doesn’t come like that) It’s “new” but I enjoy it for practicing because it has a bunch of built in effects and amp sounds, plus it has a tube in it so it has a warmer sound than most newer amps.
There’s also a Casio SK-5 floating around there somewhere and a handfull of other cheesy 80’s & 90’s keyboards, a Wollensak reel to reel recorder and an Ibanez bass that belongs to my husband amongst other things and noise makers.
Nothing is for sale.
These particular models were built for Sears & Roebuck by Harmony, but other manufacturers to stick a Silvertone badge on their guitars included Danelectro, Kay and Teisco.
GP - Apologies, these belong to Jon Lucca of the Schmoejoes and the one on the right is currently on ebay if you fancy owning a beautiful Gretsch. Which, to be honest, everyone should.
M-tone Guitars have sent in this beautiful guitar for us to post, saying;
“This M-tone Guitars Stackpole has great vintage tone with plenty of its own personality mixed in. Built in 2011, 25.5” scale, Alder body, Goncalo Alves neck with Lollar Vintage Tweed pickups. The pickguard is hand cut and finished 16 gauge steel, and the position markers and side dots are aluminum. The stormy cream paint job is inspired by good memories of a 1960 VW bug.”
Matt Proctor makes these incredible beasts out of wood, steel, brass and bone - you should check out the website at www.m-tone.com to find out more.
Loving the Silvertone Amp as well.
