1965 Hofner 4575.
Fans of The Kills will no doubt be aware that Alison Mosshart is fond of rocking out on one of these but this gorgeous looking creature was found on the website of Manchesterguitartech, and he’s highlighted that “Eagle-eyed aficionados will spot that the tremolo arm is not correct”.
It might not be the correct one, but it’s not exactly spoiling the view at all…

Si Long sent in this little beauty alongside a request for help!
“Hi, little bit of a find here, a Hofner 4578 I think. Not sure about age though, can anyone help? No serial numbers seem available. Any info mucho appreciated.”
A quick check of the t’interwebs backs up that this is indeed a Hofner 4578 but there’s not much more info out there beyond that- are there any Hofner afficionado’s able to help?

This beautiful photoset has been sent in by our old friend Ted, saying;
“Hiya GP … attached are a couple of pics of a great looking (but not good sounding) Hofner I had but sold a few years ago …. it was serial number 5 …. Wish I still had it just ‘cos it looked gorgeous …. but hey, that’s the way it goes!”
Yep, sadly that is indeed the case. Sometimes we sit and think about how many guitars we’d own if we’d simply been able to keep every single guitar we’d ever owned, and had not been forced to sell them/part exchange them to get the next in the chain.
And then we weep. Golden Hofner.
